This is possible in light of the Spanish La Liga Season, the Copa del Rey finals, and two legs in the Champions League.
El Clasico statistics have shown both teams to be equal with respect to number of wins. In 162 games, Real Madrid has won 68 with Barcelona netting 63 while 31 ended in draws. Although Real has the upper hand with regards to games won, followers of both teams know that Barcelona is the better team at present. In fact, it has been more than 2 years since Real won an El Clasico match.
In the recent game held last April 16, 2011 in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, Real Madrid, the home team, celebrated a 1-1 draw with Barcelona. It was a tightly contested game with both goals resulting from penalty kicks. This first game was scheduled in the La Liga 2011 season. This game marked Cristiano Ronaldo’s first goal against Barcelona. Surprisingly, his biggest adversary, Leonel Messi also scored the lone Barcelona goal.
The next game featuring both teams will be held on April 12 at the Estadio Mestalia. The first leg of the Champion’s League semi-final between both teams will be held at April 27 at the Santiago Bernabeu while the second leg will be held on May 3 at the Nou Camp, Barcelona’s home stadium.
Four El Clasicos in seventeen days has truly created a buzz in the worldwide football community with many fans showing their support for their chosen teams. Fans of both teams alike are itching to see what Real Madrid has in store in order for them to reclaim their spot in the top of Spanish and European football.
All eyes are now on Jose Mourinho, the Real Madrid club manager who is yet to help Real win an El Clasico match. Although he has shown quality in helping Real Madrid defeat other clubs by huge margins, it seems as though Josep Guardiola, the Barcelona club manager, holds all the Aces as of now.
With the first game ending in a 1 all draw, the next three games is surely exciting to watch as we are yet to know who will truly blaze past the other team.
